GSX Attends Security Token Future Global Conference in Singapore

The Gibraltar Stock Exchange (GSX) sponsored the Security Token Future Global Conference, hosted at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Singapore.

About The Security Token Future Global Conference

The one-day event gathered interested parties from both traditional finance and the blockchain industry, with a range of speakers providing thought leadership and insight on tokenised securities. The conference focused on giving participants the opportunity to network, share knowledge, and learn from a collaborative and engaging open platform of discussion. The topics on the agenda included; STO development, blockchain innovation for capital markets, regulation, and the evaluation and investment surrounding security tokens.

Keynote from Nick Cowan

Nick Cowan, CEO of the GSX Group, which includes the Gibraltar Stock Exchange (GSX) and Gibraltar Blockchain Exchange (GBX), gave a keynote presentation on the ‘Emergence of Security Token Exchanges’ in which he described the opportunity for the transformation of the capital markets through innovative technological initiatives, like the GSX Group’s own STACS Protocol. Nick highlighted the advancements the STACS Protocol can make to existing securities trading, stating:

“We’re not looking to change securities legislation. What we’re aiming to change is the way securities clear, in a regulated way. If we are interested in global adoption, and opening up global liquidity pools, we have to create something people can collaborate with.”

GSX Group at the Conference

The team was in full force at the event, manning a GSX Group booth and giving attendees the opportunity to come and learn more about the comprehensive GSX Group fintech ecosystem. We spoke about how, as a Group, we continue to push the boundaries for greater adoption and recognition of blockchain in the traditional financial markets.

There was a hugely positive reception at the event, with Nick engaging in media interviews after his keynote presentation, and responding to multiple enquiries on the next steps of the STACS Protocol roll-out.

About the STACS Protocol

Our latest initiative, the STACS Protocol, will launch during Q1 2019 with the aim of transforming the way we deal with securities. STACS provides a gateway for stock exchanges, broker-dealers, banks, and investment firms to enhanced liquidity, and instant transactions on a secure, transparent ledger, all seamlessly stacked on top of existing software.

The STACS Protocol is a revolutionary step forward, democratising the capital markets and enabling easier access to a low cost, efficient method of trading.
